The Tax Freedom 101 News Section powered by NEWS: Bush says tax code modification and Social Security reform needed November 4th, 2004 "I earned capital in the campaign -- political capital -- and now I intend to spend it.'' - President Geo. W. Bush - November 4th, 2004 National Press Conference If you noticed there was no talk of overhauling the tax code, or of Social Security reform during the party conventions, or during the presidential debates [see story: "Mum's the word on IRS and tax reform during Bush campaign" - this news available here]. However, it was highly speculated that tax code would undergo some tinkering if Bush was reelected [see story: "More GOP Talk of Eliminating IRS?" - this news available here]. Perhaps direction from the International money lenders, "the IMF", had something to with Bush deciding to spend this "political capital" [see story: "IMF to US: Raise taxes, simplify code" - this news available here]. Privatization of Social Security may also be on the Congressional table this term, as it appears some of that earned "political capital" will indeed be spent to reorganize this doomed wealth transfer system.
by Holly Rosenkrantz in Washington Nov. 4 - Bloomberg President George W. Bush said he would press ahead with the war on terrorism and his goals for the U.S. economy such as changing the tax code during his second four-year term. November 1, 2004 We're sure many of our readers are becoming weary of stories like these. However, if we don't remind citizens of the significance of why political activism by leaders of people of faith, even when it's obviously partisan, then who will? Certainly organizations like Christian Coalition won't. For example, Michael Peroutka of the Constitution Party is on the ballot in enough states to win the required number of electoral college votes to be President. Yet, Christian Coalition voter guides won't even list this legitimate Godly candidate for President and where the Constitution Party platform stands on the issues of the day. Therefore, do we really need the services of Christian Coalition when we can simply turn on CNN or Fox News for "in depth" analysis of candidate views?
WASHINGTON – About 60 charities, churches and other tax-exempt groups are being investigated for potentially breaking federal rules that bar them from participating in political activity, the Internal Revenue Service said Friday. Such violations would threaten their tax-exempt status, the IRS said. The investigations involve guidelines for 501(c)(3) groups, which grant tax-exempt status so long as organizations do not participate in political activities like endorsing candidates or making campaign donations. By law, the IRS cannot reveal names or details of investigations. It did reveal that about 20 of the groups being looked into were churches. The title of the book is: "The New Income Tax Scandal". We here at Tax Freedom 101 would suggest John and Brian remove the word "new" from the title of the book. The "scandal" has continued for generations now. The scandal will continue as long as the public remains unaware of it. Your job is to alert your friends and neighbors with email notifications like these. Now this....
is in Violation of Long-established U.S. Supreme Court Mandates FindLaw for Corporate Counsel - from PR Newswire TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- John Garrison, prominent tax law historian and legal specialist at Florida's Office of the Attorney General, today announced that the income tax is being erroneously enforced on employees as a direct tax rather than as the excise mandated by the Sixteenth Constitutional Amendment. The current enforcement as a direct tax is costing working Americans thousands of improperly collected tax dollars over the course of their lifetime. Garrison is currently writing about his findings in his book "The New Income Tax Scandal" which he is co-authoring with Brian Stabley, J.D., an Assistant Attorney General at Florida's Office of the Attorney General. [Taxpayer News] The next time some revenue agent comes knocking on your front door to help you make out an overdue return, ask them if they have completed compliance efforts within their own agency first. Perhaps IRS employees within the agency are actually reading the Internal Revenue Code for a change?
Report by: Ken Rankin - WebCPA Washington (Oct. 15, 2004) - New data suggesting that income tax noncompliance is on the rise among the Internal Revenue Service's own employees is causing some hand-wringing among members of an IRS task force formed to address the problem. A report from that task force outlining plans to "more effectively educate [IRS] employees about their responsibilities to comply with the federal tax law" is expected next month. Behind the agency's planned civics lesson for tax service personnel: a disturbing increase in the number of IRS employees who either don't pay their taxes, don't file returns, or commit other tax law violations. The Compact Disk Comprehensive Tax Research Library Collection INFORMATION: There is no easy answer: The Silver Bullet only worked for the Lone Ranger—not in reality The following selected article comes from the October 2004 issue of the fellowship's members only newsletter, The Liberty Tree. It was mailed to all members of the Save-A-Patriot Fellowship as part of the members assistance program known as the Victory Express! * * * THE LIBERTY TREE There is no easy answer It has been truly exasperating to watch over the years as newcomers with forceful personalities but little experience come to the forefront and lead thousands of Patriots back into making the same mistakes of the past—over and over again. This has set the movement back years in achieving its goal, and may possibly have (but hopefully not) caused victory to be out of our reach. The latest case in point is Mr. Robert Schulz, and his efforts as the Chairman of the We The People Foundation, and We The People Congress. Mr. Schulz is an intelligent and charismatic individual, with leadership and organizational qualities. But he is obviously impetuous and lacks experience in the history of the movement and in the courts' reaction to it. The lawsuit he filed to force government officials to respond to his "petition for redress of grievance" is a case in point. It might seem attractive to the average Patriot, especially newcomers, but not being well thought out, it plays into the hands of the seditionists in the following ways:
2. it gives the false appearance to the average Patriot of bringing the wrongdoing before the public, and the false hope of a widespread reaction to right the wrongs; 3. it gives the seditionists the opportunity to point out how wrong the complaint was regarding the Constitution, thereby discrediting the movement at large and causing the public to distrust our contentions about the law (this alone sets us back years in our efforts); and 4. it gives the public reason to believe the justifications of the seditionists for the criminal prosecution of Patriots, especially those who cosigned the complaint (sixty-five pages of them). Some of these criminal investigations are ongoing. A little forethought about the political structure of our Republic would have revealed that it would be clearly unconstitutional for any court to force government officials to answer a petition for redress of grievances, for that flies in the face of a representative government. Changing the actions of government by the means of a petition is tantamount to a mob-rule democracy. The only jurisdictional action open to citizens to force government officials to obey the law is to sue them individually for their wrongful actions, and we all know what the negative results of those actions have been over the years. According to the WTP web site, Schulz is trying to raise an additional 200,000 FRNs to continue this ill-conceived lost cause, which appeals to the average Patriot as a means for a fast victory so that they can get on with their lives. The plain truth is that there is no quick action that will result in such a victory. The only chance we have to save this Republic is to educate the American public so that they can identify with the true culture of America as exemplified by the Founders. Time is so short that it is just about impossible to do that in time using the one-on-one method, or through scattered new events. As was proven here at the Fellowship, the best way to accomplish this mass education is with a talk-show format radio network, teaching the law and exposing the wrongdoing of government officials. I personally invited Schulz to join in on the effort to save the radio network when it was still possible (see the special edition of the Reasonable Action newsletter). He refused, however, wrongfully believing that he could get the job done with ads in USA Today, press conferences, a public hunger strike, the presentment of his petition for redress of grievances, and finally, through the filing of his ongoing suit to force government officials to answer that petition. Yet, while all of this was probably well intended, it ultimately damages the overall efforts for the Cause of Liberty. There is still time to act! The workable plan to re-establish the radio network can be found in the special edition of the Reasonable Action newsletter, and can be downloaded from the Save-A-Patriot Fellowship web site, or ordered from the Fellowship bookshop. Because of our court victory over the IRS's 1993 raid, the Fellowship is the only logical means of operating this radio network, since we are not likely to be raided again. I invite the entire Patriot community to join us in this effort, and thankfully, the implementation of our plan will not cost any one of them more than 220 FRNs per year. Silver Bullets are only fictitious, and so is the Big Victory in court. So how about it? Don't be part of the problem—let's get on with a real solution today! * * * Wishing you a silver bullet-free day, | |||||||
