Happy Tax Day

Today is April 17 and tomorrow is the deadline. The IRS has been kind enough to give the American taxpayers a couple of extra days to file their tax confessional since April 15 fell on a weekend. Wasn't that awfully nice of them.

Today I'm just going to give you a few things to think about.

Since the law doesn't actually require most people to file a confessional known as a 1040, today is just a nice day. Here in New England it's very pleasant outside. It might be a little cool out there but I'm not complaining.

We still have military in Iraq. We still have people getting killed over there. Yet, we're not at war. Only congress has the power to declare war and that never happened. We found no WMDs. Of course they had plenty of time to get rid of those before we got there. Some people claim that oil was the real reason we invaded Iraq. What happened to the oil prices since that time?

I just saw $2.76/gallon for regular at the gas station...

I'm actually thinking of getting a used car with a diesel engine and then getting one of these kits:

Speaking of gasoline, remember many years ago when catalytic converters were first introduced? We had regular, unleaded and premium gasoline. The regular was cheapest, then unleaded was more expensive. What was the difference? They didn't put the lead in the unleaded. It wasn't that they had to remove the lead, they just had to not put the lead in. Why was unleaded more expensive? Because they could.

More gasoline -

In Brazil, you can stop at the gas pumps and get gasoline or ethanol. Brazil realized their reliance on foreign oil long ago and started manufacturing ethanol. At the pumps you can buy gasoline at $2.30 (approx) or ethanol at $1.20.

Exxon Mobil has just started offering gasoline with around 10% ethanol. Naturally it's more expensive than straight gasoline. Why? The same reason a dogs lick themselves. Because they can.

Why can't anyone start offering straight ethanol at less than the price of gasoline? It's a renewable resource, burns cleaner and can be made cheaper than gasoline. It can also be manufactured here in the States. Where is the drawback?

If you never had a SSN and you do what the IRS wants and file your 1040 like a good boy, the IRS will send you your check back. They can't process a return without an SSN. If you don't have an SSN, the IRS can't operate. As far as they are concerned, you don't exist. Doesn't that give you a warm fuzzy feeling?

David Carmichael has sent a very strong letter to the SSA demanding removal of his SSN record as well as the records of his wife and children. I have posted this letter on the NoSSN site. This letter is a beautiful thing.

During previous elections I have been known to use the slogan, “Vote republican, it's the slower road to socialism.” For the most part, you have two choices. Sure there are many other candidates and better candidates, but we all know that it's basically one or the other, democrat or republican. Whoever wins we're going to go down the same road. The only difference is the speed.

Since it doesn't really matter which of the two wins, I think it's best to vote for the best candidate regardless. Especially for me. Here in Massachusetts, this state always goes to the democratic candidate. Personally, I think Ted Kennedy has something to do with that. From now on, I'm voting Libertarian. Actually I've been doing that for a while now.

It is my belief that the church is at least partly to blame for the situation this country is in right now. the Christian Church has allowed this to happen. Unfortunately, right now most churches have become “state churches”. they have incorporated and applied for 501(c)(3) tax exemption. They are now part of the system. This is the same type of system that many Patriotic Americans have shed their blood to free us from during the American Revolution. Very sad indeed.

I don't think that “Free Church” is in actuality a correct term. It isn't the Church and the Free Church, it should be the Church and the Church, Inc. Or, more appropriately, the Church and The 501(c)(3), Tax Exempt, Steepled, Faith-Based, Government Approved Corporation. Let's call things what they actually are.

If you are currently attending services at a 501(c)(3), Tax Exempt, Steepled, Faith-Based, Government Approved Corporation, talk to your church leaders about the Free Church. If that doesn't help, find a free church.

If there is no Free Church in your area, you can start one.

This is one from some time ago but it bears repeating.

Everyone gets that junk mail such as credit card offers and other advertising. Most of these include a postage paid, addressed envelope. Take these ads and credit card applications and mix them up and drop them in the mail. Send an American Express credit card application to Chase-Manhattan. Send a car wash coupon to Citibank. Send an ad for replacement windows to Capitol One.

Have fun with it. Fill out the applications with fictitious names like:

Adam Baum
Al Fresco
Ben Dover
Eileen Dover
Skip Dover
Brock Lee
Brooke Trout
Claire Annette
Dan D. Lyons
Gene Poole
It's only right to make the application entertaining. If you don't have the time, leave them blank. Make sure you don't send anything that can be traced back to you. Make sure you don't send them the address label by mistake. that would be bad.

Doing this will help the economy. If enough of us do this, it will keep the price of postage down and federal employees working. Don't feel bad about the banks having to pay the postage. We know that they have the power to create money out of thin air.
