Citizen Receives Over One Million in Cash Following IRS Seizure Dateline: November 11th, 2004 DETROIT (Press Release*) - Earlier this year a Michigan man lost his battle with the IRS over a disputed 50,000 debt, and says he was emotionally and financially drained when it was over. The debt arose over an outstanding tax bill issued last year by the IRS. The IRS began levying his pay heavily, then he says they came for his boat, and car. "I was ruined, and devastated. My wife and kids were scared, and I wanted to give up on life. Then things changed for the better, I had forgotten that it wasn't over," said the Michigan man who has asked to remain anonymous. They did everything they could for me using the legal process, but it appears from my vantage point that the legal system is stacked against the average citizen when the IRS is involved. However, in the end the members came through for me far beyond what I could have imagined. I'm proud that I was able to make a stand on principle, and stood up for my rights, rather than just buckle under to government demands." The educational association this Michigan citizen is referring to who helped him understand his rights is called the Save-A-Patriot Fellowship. Within the past six months this member has received just over one million in cash from other fellowship members across the country through what they call their 'Victory Express'. Run as an 'insurance-like' program and managed at the association's national headquarters in Westminster Maryland, this 'member's assistance program' compensates a member when they determine that the citizen has been wrongly charged by the IRS or a state taxing agency. If loss of property or incarceration ensues by a member, all the other members come to their aid. Unlike traditional insurance programs, which compensates a claimant for loss upon a calculated value, the fellowship's plan is intended to restore the member fully, above and beyond their loss so as to encourage other citizens not to be fearful in asserting their rights. "We've been around since 1984, and people have now begun to see the value of our First Amendment association", say John Kotmair, Save-A-Patriot Fellowship's founder and fiduciary. "That is why we are continuing to grow, and have become a media and political grass roots force.
