UPDATES:
- SAPF's 20th Year Anniversary Convention
It is hard to believe that on February 4th of this year The Save-A-Patriot Fellowship [SAPF] will turn twenty. This is a celebration and convention you won't want to miss. The dates for the Convention and Celebration have changed. We're now planning for the first weekend of April in Westminster Maryland. The dates are the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, and additional speakers have been added to the convention. Dave Buhlman, New Hampshire State Representative and fellowship member will be in attendance, as well as Patriot Pastor Garrett Lear. Attendees will be able to meet and speak with all the speakers Saturday night at the fellowship banquet. All SAPF Members will be notified of the convention in the upcoming February issue of The Liberty Tree to be mailed at the end of this week. Convention attendance is open to both members and nonmembers, however there's a limited number of seats available, so SAPF members get your registrations in early! An event and registration page will soon be posted for members and friends of the fellowship at Tax Freedom 101.com within the coming week. More on this Convention and Celebration to follow at the event listings page.
- John Kotmair Talks on Simkanin Case
As readers know from the previous issue of The Tax Freedom 101 Report John Kotmair, the founder of SAPF was listed as a material witness for the Simkanin case. He was denied the opportunity to testify before the court. If you're unaware of the outcome of the Simkanin case you can review our News Section below for the details. John Kotmair has just finished an article that will be distributed very soon to everyone who receives this report. Look for his article "The Only Logical Action For Patriots". Here is an excerpt from the article:
"My experience with courts started at the tender age of 23 years old as a police office in Baltimore, Maryland, and has been continuous except for a brief period from 1966 to 1970. Since the formation of the Save-A-Patriot Fellowship, our office has literally participated in at least one thousand court cases on behalf of Fellowship members. Based on this practical experience I am presenting my observations on what has transpired, what to expect, and the most logical action to solve the problem within the courts."
"As a young police officer I witnessed injustice and corruption within the State courts, and as a Patriot in the early 1970s I experienced injustice in the federal courts. After that I did not need a ton of bricks to fall on me to see what to expect when raising arguments in court in order to end injustice and corruption."
No doubt John Kotmair has the experience and knowledge of how things really work in our courts. His vision to restore the Republic remains steadfast. We would all be wise to heed his words and direction, and his plea to join together to support each other in the battle to restore Liberty!

- Manifesto manifested?

Karl Marx published The Communist Manifesto in 1848, 156 years ago. In 1989, the Berlin wall was torn down and in the succeeding years the Soviet Union was dissolved and we were told that Communism had been defeated. Today Russia, the former lead country in the Soviet Union, is counted as an ally of the United States. That's seen as progress. But perhaps our country has grown closer to the soviet model so a merging of the two systems is now more of a possibility.
However, Marx's Manifesto contained ten planks which were intended to build a platform for Communism to take hold in a country. So as we boast about our system winning, we may want to pause to see how much of the Communist system is ensconced in our government today.
Following are the ten planks included in The Communist Manifesto, with comments showing how these planks are part of our government.
1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
One strong base of the US Constitution and the constitutions of the fifty states is the sanctity of private property rights. In modern times, there has been a steady assault on private property rights through zoning laws, government permits (even to construct a deck in some municipalities), and virtual takings of property by restrictions on use due a wetland or other feature being located on the private property. Regarding rents paid on public lands, federally owned properties are leased to private individuals for grazing, mining and timber uses. On the state level there are programs such a LCHIP that use public money to buy land that will forever be off limits to development.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
In 1913 Congress passed the Internal Revenue Act as a result of the supposed ratification of the 16th Amendment to the United States Constitution. Until the rates were adjusted under President Reagan in the 1980s, the highest tax bracket was socked with a 90 percent tax rate. Of course, most of the people in this bracket were rich and knew how to avoid income taxes through loopholes set up for them by Congress. Some studies show that average Americans now work until late May to pay for taxes, fees, and the cost of government regulations at all levels, and require two earners to survive. Now that's progressive.
3. Abolition of all right of inheritance.
There are steep taxes laid on inheritances by the state and federal government. It's necessary to plan carefully to protect one's property from the tax man so that your progeny will get what was yours after your death. Citizens should not be forced into such a defensive posture relative to their governments.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
The IRS will take your property without any due process of law (that is, no court involvement, no court order) if you disagree with the tax laws, or if you "rebel" in another way. Presidents of both parties have sicced the IRS on political opponents to shut them up and/or hinder them. Many rights have been abused in the War on Drugs.
5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.
The Federal Reserve Bank System we have today is the latest of several central banks we have had in the United States. We got rid of the others, and we don't need this privately-owned operation either. The United States Treasury should be handling the money system Credit tracking companies are another source of power in this system. Got an error in your record? Victim of identity theft? You're hurting for years. It's all centralized.
6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the state.
Federal Communication Commission, Federal Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Authority, Amtrak, Conrail, and Corporation for Public Broadcasting. States have their own versions of some of these agencies.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state; the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
Environmental Protection Agency, state environmental agencies, Department of Labor, Department of Agriculture, National Park Service, Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Mines, etc.
8. Equal obligation of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
Americorps, Social Security system and national tracking identification number for all, Medicare, Works Progress Administration, Department of Labor, OSHA, AFL-CIO, the nationally chartered National Education Association, Make a Difference Day, etc.
9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the population over the country.
Farming conglomerates, and government subsidies for farms, tobacco, etc.
10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of child factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc.
A look at your property tax bill will show that public education is hardly "free", but it is in the sense that those who use the service do not have to pay for it directly. The federal Department of Education was set up in 1977 although there is no constitutional basis for federal involvement in education, from school lunch programs to no child left behind. Our government-run school is organized on the Prussian model from the 1880s to create more bricks in the wall, as Pink Floyd sang so well.
You may think that much, or all, of the above is fine, and have no problem with the influence of this philosophy in the United States. That's your choice, of course, as long as you are not bound by an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and your state's constitution. Then you need to be more rigorous in your approach. Or you may feel that modern advances required our constitutional system to change dramatically. In that case, one has to be concerned about how far these changes will go. Recently, for example, we have seen the USA Patriot Act compromise the constitutional right to a speedy trial for several citizens, and the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform law has put a chill into constitutionally protected free speech.
Watch the signposts.
Dave Buhlman, the author of the end-times adventure novel Final Warning, was born in Boston, MA and escaped to the relative freedom of New Hampshire over five years ago. He is a first-term State Representative, has been a member of the Save-a-Patriot Fellowship for about seven years, and is an Independent Representative for the Fellowship. Buhlman grew up in the "duck-and-cover" days of the 1950s where he learned to hate communism and love freedom. He still feels the same way. You can contact him for discussion, or to order his novel (15 frns).
Wishing you a communist-free day!
