The Romonstrance

This Remonstrance that has been left by the "We The People" organization has been garnering a lot of praise and criticism lately. I would like to address some of these issues.

The so called ratification of the 16th amendment seems to be getting a lot of attention. This is the amendment that makes the income tax constitutional. This is a false statement. The 16th amendment did not repeal any clause whatsoever in the Constitution. As everyone should know, you cannot expand upon something that is in itself limited. The 16th amendment did not add anything to the Constitution.

What the 16th amendment did was give everyone the illusion that we all had to pay income tax. Because people beleived it did, and the government and the IRS enforced it as if it did, it had the same desired effect.

Some people may argue that the 16th does not need to be repealed because it doesn't give congress any new power of taxationas stated by the Supreme Court in Stanton v. Baltic Mining.

I beleive there is good reason to repeal the 16th, because it was not properly ratified. This fraud should be brought to light. If it does eventually happen, it will cause the whole system to collapse. If the governemtn, for one moment, admits to this act of fraud, it will cause everyone to sit up and and take notice. They will begin to educate themselves like many of us have been doing and this country will be on it's way back to the way it was intended. Back to limited government in a Constitutional Republic.

John Marshall (Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 1801 to 1835): "Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos."
