"Know Your Customer" monitoring of your bank account is back!

Politicians, federal bureaucrats and institutional elites are, once again, working to make your local bank teller their snitch.

Two years ago, Congress passed a bill directing federal banking regulators to issue the infamous "Know Your Customer" regulations.
Those regulations would have required your local bank teller to:

1. Determine your identity - not for the bank's purposes, but for the government's purposes.
2. Determine the source of your deposit.
3. Determine your profile of "regular and expected" transactions that is based, not on your actual banking history, but on what your banking history should be according to racial, economic, geographic guidelines.
4. Report your "suspicious" transactions to the federal government. Your "suspicious" transactions will be those that don't fit with the government's profile of "regular and expected" transactions for you.

The opposition to "Know Your Customer" was overwhelming. Over 300,000 Americans from coast-to-coast told the banking regulators in Washington to stop "Know Your Customer" regulations. The federal bureaucrats did back down last year - but they're back.

"Know Your Customer" (version 2) regulations are included in H.R. 3886. H.R. 3886 will implement the "Know Your Customer" regulations for international transactions. In addition, H.R. 3886 will give the U.S. treasury department (IRS, Customs Service, Secret Service) the power to:

1. Make new requirements on financial institutions at their discretion.
2. Prohibit whole classes of international transactions at their discretion.
3. Prohibit international transactions with certain financial institutions at their discretion.
4. Prohibit international transactions with certain countries at their discretion.

H.R. 3886 will decimate privacy between you and the financial institutions with which you do business. Politicians, federal bureaucrats and institutional elites desperately want H.R. 3886 to become law. They will tell you not to worry. "These 'Know Your Customer' regulations will only be used to catch criminals. These regulations will only be used for international transactions." The people who are telling us not to worry today are the same people who tried last year to quietly pass regulations that would have forced your local bank teller to become a government snitch.

There are only six weeks of legislative business remaining this year. During those six weeks, many bills will be quietly pushed through the U.S. House in the hope of not being noticed during the year-end flurry of votes. H.R. 3886 is one of those bills.

If we fall for "Know Your Customer" for international transactions today, we'll have to suffer from "Know Your Customer" for local transactions tomorrow. That's what they were after in the first place.

Please urge your U.S. representative to vote against H.R. 3886. You can send an E-mail by going to http://www.libertystudy.org and click on Communicate at the top of the page. Please tell your representative to vote "no" on H.R. 3886. To call your representative, dial the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121. Also, tell your local bank that you are opposed to H.R. 3886 and ask them to oppose it as well. Last year, many banks helped stop "Know Your Customer" (version 1) after they heard from their customers.

LWRN vs. The Media Establishment

Most people are aware that the mainstream media routinely distorts the truth and even conceals the truth. But this is not just a modern phenomenon. In references to the misstatements and distortions emanating from Great Britain's media, Thomas Jefferson wrote, in a letter to G.K. van Hogendorp, dated October 13, 1785:

"You ask me what are those operations of the British nation which ... will produce this effect [hostile attitude]? ... The most effective engines for this purpose are the public papers. You know well that the government always kept a kind of standing army of news writers who without any regard to truth, or to what should be like truth, invented and put into the papers whatever might serve the minister. This suffices with the mass of the people who have no means of distinguishing the false from the true paragraphs of a newspaper ... Instead of a few of the papers formerly engaged, they now engaged every one. No paper therefore comes out without a dose of paragraphs against America." Thomas Jefferson, Merrill D. Peterson, 1984, Literary Classics of the U.S., Y.Y. N.Y P. 835.

However, the problem of the controlled mass media is much more serious, today. History tells us that when political power becomes concentrated, as with a federation or empire, stability is maintained first and foremost by controlling the media, because the media is an important tool to shape and mold the beliefs and attitudes of the public at large. In the current effort underway to install a global government (i.e., establish an empire), control of the media is more important to the globalists than ever before. The news media can report the truth and the whole truth; or it can spin news, suppress news, and lie. The controlled media routinely resorts to the latter. Of the latter, news suppression is especially insidious, since people can only know what they read or are told. They can know nothing else.

The degree of deceit in the mass controlled media runs deeper than most people realize. One telling example of the magnitude of this deception was reported in the Drudge Report, Saturday, Feb 21, 1998 http://www.drudgereport.com A Drudge Report reader reported that when he was scanning his satellite dish, he discovered Dan Rather reporting a live attack on Baghdad, Iraq before it occurred. Since he was in the financial business, he recorded the report and called some of his Wall Street friends, telling them that the "war" has started. However, much to the embarrassment of CBS News, Mr. Rather was caught "rehearsing" coverage of a U.S. bombing run on Iraq - a "rehearsal" that was mistakenly beamed -to television affiliates via satellite for 20 minutes. According to one viewer who witnessed the spectacle, Rather at one point stated that it was not known how many casualties were caused by the bombings. "It felt like Wag The Dog," a senior news producer at a major-market affiliate told the DRUDGE REPORT. " 'I bet the network is living in fear that someone on the receiving end had tape rolling.' " " 'It looked like a real broadcast of what was going on,' Bill McClure, master control operator at WTAP-TV in Parkersburg, W.Va., an NBC affiliate, told the ASSOCIATE PRESS." The reader from whom this report came said, "The tape ended with Rather saying they had to return to what I believe he said was the Grammys and that they would be back with a report later. The so-called attack was supposed to happen on Feb 25."

CBS responded to the Drudge Report insisting that Dan was doing a "dry run" of the bombing story so that they could work out any problems beforehand. However, CBS' cover story that they were conducting a "dry run" doesn't wash. In a "dry run" scenario, you would only have to simulate the cooperation between Dan Rather, the anchorman, with his technical crew. It would be unnecessary to insert such detailed action shots of cruise missiles firing, their routes depicted in 3D, or "live" bombing shots of Baghdad. This entire 20 minutes of tape was far beyond what one would expect of a "dry run" scenario. To insert such detailed, and highly technical, 3D effects and pictures of "bombing" runs, the filmmaking must have been well planned some time ago and deliberately created beforehand. And, of course, Dan Rather would not have had to wear full makeup, and he could have been dressed in street clothes. "Dry run", indeed!

One would think that CBS's competitors would be falling all over themselves to be the first to carry the story and embarrass CBS. However, that hasn't happened. In fact, it is reasonable to believe their competitors had themselves created their own studio version of the bombing runs. Actually, they would have to have created their own version, for the fraud to be effectively perpetrated upon the American people. I believe this is exactly the reason that none of CBS' rivals have carried this hot story.

Did Dan tell you about how the U. S. Border Patrol arrested 31,015 illegal aliens in the town of Douglas, Arizona which itself has a population of just 15,000 citizens, last March? I'll bet this is the first you've heard of it. Imagine yourself living in an American town of 15,000 which is so overrun with illegal aliens that the Border Patrol can arrest 3 1,000 of them in a month without even trying. One would think that this is a newsworthy event, yet none of the controlled mass media reported this.

Another recent example of news suppression is in the matter of the China trade bill, passed by a vote of 237-197 in the House. The mainstream news did give some coverage of the opposition; however, there was not one peep about China's repeated threats of nuking the United States.

The Hong Kong Standard on April 12, 2000, reported that Beijing is prepared for a nuclear war against the United States if Washington "would dare to stand in the way" of China's reunification with Taiwan.

The magazine is an official publication, with retired People's Liberation Army generals operating as its honorary publishers or advisers.

The article further stated, "China, to safeguard its national interests, has prepared for nuclear war against the United States." Gee, I wonder why Dan Rather didn't tell us about this? Do you think that maybe the American people might object to the China trade deal if they knew about this?

As an aside: Rep. David Bonior of Michigan, the No. 2 House Democrat who led the fight against Clinton, and all the other opponents, objected to passage of the bill on the basis of "The fight for human rights, worker rights and protection of the environment Yet not one peep from this "opposition" about China's saber rattling.
Did you hear about Reagan Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger stating, "It might not be wise for America to go to war with China, but it might be necessary"? This raised a few eyebrows! Dan neglected to mention anything about this, either.

Then there is spin. Read the following dialogue from the ABC evening Dews with Peter Jennings, and see if you catch the spin.

"The national debate over gun control became even more vicious today. The head o the National Rifle Association accused President Clinton today of having '...blood on his hands.' Mr Clinton said the NRA has engaged in devious underhanded trickery. Lest we forget, the ultimate goal of all this, is to reduce the number of people who die from gun violence.

The last sentence gives the spin to the story. The globalists, in their piecemeal attempt to take away our guns, want us to believe that they are just trying to save lives.

These people don't care about saving lives, any more than Janet Reno cared about the children when she raided the Davidians in Waco! What they are concerned about is a citizenry that is able to defend itself from a government that acts outside the bounds of its Constitution. An armed citizenry is a serious threat to the globalists.

It is a given that before we can get our government back under the law, the citizenry needs reliable and complete information so that it can vote wisely. It would not be enough to arrest Herr Clinton and his fellow seditionist today, because they would only be replaced with other seditionist.
No, if this change is to take place peacefully, it shall first be necessary to educate the people to such an extent that they shall be able to elect statesmen and not demagogues; statesmen who will not violate their solemn oath to uphold the Constitution. At a minimum, the prerequisite of that is that the voter understands the concept of a Constitutional Republic; and to know the earmarks of liberty.

Again: the people can only know what they read or are told. They can know nothing else. They are not going to get "Truth in Broadcasting" from the controlled mass media; nor will they get consistently reliable information from underground sources. But they will get reliable and complete information from LWRN.
