What’s new at NoSSN
Downsizer Dispatch – Guess what else was in the bailout bill

Well the elections have been over for over a week now. Sorry I haven’t been writing lately, I’ve been absorbing all this information that has been coming across my desk. It seems I don’t have enough time to digest all of it.

The election results discouraged me but it was no surprise. My vote for president was Chuck Baldwin. In past elections my motto has been “Vote Republican – It’s the slower road to socialism”. Although this is still true, it makes no sense here in Massachusetts. For those that don’t know, Massachusetts is one of the the most socialist states in the union. Unless there is extenuating circumstances (such as the Reagan election) Massachusetts always, always goes to the democrat.

This year I decided the best thing to do was to vote my conscience. Who is the one on the ballot that I think would be the best for the country. If everyone did that instead of listening to MSM (the Main Stream Media) this would be a much different country. Sure the media will tell you they are not biased and they are being fair and giving everyone an equal chance, the truth is, they are a manipulating propaganda machine.

If you would like proof of this, just look at how the media treated Ron Paul. At the early debates they knew just the questions to ask to make him look like bad. I recall one debate in particular where the normal questions were asked to Mitt Romney, John McCain and the guy with a lisp that I can’t remember his name right now (Rudy Guilianni). Questions regarding foreign policy, energy and the environment were the main topics. When it was time for a question to Ron Paul, they asked, “If elected would you work to dismantle the IRS?” Where did that come from? Of course, Ron Paul replied, “Immediately.”

To the uninformed this was a silly answer. It was as if he was proposing to cut everybody’s pay. People laughed at the response. Yes, there is no doubt the media controls how people think.

Was I surprised at the outcome of the election? Absolutely not. As a matter of fact I predicted six months ago that Obama would win. This did not surprise me in the least. However much I was terrified of the prospect, I knew he would win.

There is a lot going around these days about Obama’s citizenship. This is something we need to keep up with. I have yet to see any solid evidence that Obama is a natural born citizen. I have seen a copy of a certificate from Hawaii. This is not something that can be verified as genuine. It is not the original and is a certificate that can be made up by anyone in the clerks office at your request. This can be easily forged/faked. From what I have heard the Obama camp has been silent on this issue. I don’t have to tell you what silence means. There is some truth that silence is hiding.

Do some searching on this; it is interesting, intriguing and addictive. Devvy Kidd has a couple of great articles on this.

If you would like to know my strategy for voting, here it is:

President: Baldwin

Question 1 (Eliminate the state income tax): yes

Question 2 (Decriminalize Marjuana): Yes

Question 3 (Eliminate dog racing): No

All others:

If a libertarian was running they got my vote (one did)

If a democrat and a republican was running vote republican

If a democrat was running unopposed: No vote

I was a bit disgruntled with the results. Of all the things I voted for, I got one (Question 2). A measily one. I amazes me the stupidity of the American people in general and the people of Massachusetts in particular.

I have another question, now that I think about it. How did Obama get on the ballot? Here is a “junior Senator” who has not even served one term.

  • He is a former muslim (or still is).
  • His middle name is Hussein (didn’t we just pull a Hussien out of a spider hole and hang him?).
  • This guy talked about change all through his campaign yet no one has shown us what he has changed or changed for the better in his past.
  • He never mentioned anything specific he was going to change
  • We are not sure he is a natural born citizen
  • He has said he wants to institute wealth redistribution (socialism)
  • He has questionable “friends” (rasicst and terrorist)
  • His wife is a rascist (or is that Ok since she is non-white?)

I can probably think of more things. I am amazed he got elected president.

I am also amazed at how his followers believe in him and follow him. The last time I saw devotion like that was at the airport. No, wait. It was Jim Jones. Let’s not drink any kool-aid ok?

New at NoSSN

I should say possibly coming soon. I have been talking recently with someone who is setting up an internet radio station. I am talking with him about the possibility of doing a weekly one hour talk radio show. I would talk about things of interest and also take e-mail questions from listeners. This person likes the idea and it looks like it will come to fruition.

If you would like to get a jump on this you can e-mail your questions to: Radio@NoSSN.com

So, soon you may be able to hear my wonderful radio voice over the internet right to your PC and speakers.

I will also archive all the shows at NoSSN.com so you can hear them at anytime.

A sponsor or two would be nice. E-mail me if you would like to sponsor the show.

Quote of the Day: "Relying on the government to protect your privacy is like asking a peeping tom to install your window blinds." -- John Perry Barlow

Subject: Bailout bill contains buried provisions to invade your privacy

Do you think the IRS should set up undercover operations to entrap unsuspecting taxpayers?

Do you think the IRS should release your confidential tax returns to law enforcement and intelligence agencies upon request?

If you answered "No!" to either question, you're out of luck. Before its October recess, Congress passed a bill giving the IRS these powers.

You may ask, "Why didn't Downsize DC oppose this bill?"

As a matter of fact, we wrote against it virtually non-stop for two weeks!

Don't remember?

That's understandable. These provisions are buried in Sections 401 and 402 of Division C in H.R. 1424, the Bailout bill.

The Bailout, or "Emergency Economic Stabilization Act," has a wild history. In just twelve days it morphed from . . .

* A three-page proposal by the Bush Administration
* To a 110-page amendment attached to an unrelated bill that was rejected by the House
* To a 422-page bill passed by Congress and signed into law.

The Library of Congress's summary of the bill is nearly 6,200 words, or 14 pages!  (The final Public Print version of the bill, in smaller fonts, is 169 pages.)

In other words, the bailout bill went from bad to worse, in the space of just a few days, and the final price tag included not just $700 billion, but your privacy rights as well.

Next week, we'll explain how the One Subject At A Time Act would have prevented the Bailout bill from passing. This week, however, we'll note how things would have been different under the Read the Bills Act.

* Because the Bailout bill would have gone through a full reading before a qorum in each chamber, Congress would have had incentives to make it as understandable and as brief as possible, with few unrelated provisions and earmarks.
* Because there would have been a seven-day waiting period before voting on passage, members of Congress would have had time to really consider the arguments for and against it.
* Because the bill would have been posted on the Internet during those seven days, Congress would have had an incentive to cut out objectionable parts, such as giving the IRS more power.

Under the Read the Bills Act, Congress would be prevented from spending only a few days to write and pass 400+ page bills costing nearly a trillion dollars. The Read the Bills Act would also make it harder for Congress to attach completely unrelated provisions, such as giving the IRS increased powers to invade your privacy.

Please use our Educate the Powerful System to demand that your Representative and Senators introduce the Read the Bills Act.

In your personal comments, tell them about the IRS provisions in the Bailout bill. Ask them if they knew about these provisions when they voted on the bill. Ask them if this bill was really passed with the "consent of the governed," given that members of Congress didn't read and couldn't understand the bill.

Please also place a Read the Bills Act Coalition button, banner, or tower-ad on your blog or website. This will raise awareness of the Read the Bills Act. In return, your site will be linked at DownsizeDC.org and be mentioned in a Downsizer-Dispatch reaching over 24,000 subscribers. For more information, write to rtbacoalition@downsizedc.org.

This week we welcome Worldwide Sawdust to the Coalition.

Thank you for being part of the growing Downsize DC army.
