Once, I had no health insurance. I made arrangments with the hospital to make payments and they reduced the bill considerably. I got some health insurance and it's not very good. They decided not to cover some things and the bills made it to a collection agency. My policy is that I don't deal with collection agencys. I have not agreed to do business with them and I am under no obligation to deal with them. It is also my belief that collection agencys are the scum of the earth and deserve to be treated as such. Over the past few months I have done some research on how to deal with these people and I would like to share this knowledge with you. Remember how I said that I have no contract or agreement to do business with the collection agnecy? This is a very correct assumption. Without some sort of contract you don't have to deal with these scumbags. Legally, a debt may be assigned to another company or bad debt can be bought and sold from company to company. Unless you have some proof that the debt is indeed owed to this company, you don't have to deal with them. It is up to them to provide sufficient proof. However, this must be asked for. Most larger companies like financial institutions, collection agencys, Insurance companies, they are all equipped to handle situations that are normal. If you have a car accident, you file a claim, they know how to process that. Apply for a loan, they know how to process that. A collection agency expects you to cower in the corner for fear your credit will be ruined. They are equipped to take your money hower you want to send it to them. Problems arise when you respond to their threatening letters with a demand for debt validation. A debt validation letter simply states that you are disputing the debt. You demand proof that the debt exists. You require such things as the assignee, the creditor, the terms of the agreement, has any insurance claims been filed? Has it been used in any tax deduction claim? What about the license to operate as a collection agnecy? Articles of incorporation? Demand these things and they don't know what to do with it. Give them 30 days to respond. During this time they may not call you or harass you. It really throws a wrench into their works. So far, I have not received any response from one of these letters. No response means the issue is closed. If you would like a sample letter, just ask. I may be putting more info on this on the NoSSN site soon. A good rule to follwo is to not talk to this people over the phone. If you do, be careful of any information you give them. Do not reveal too much. For example, I was asked if I was employed. I replied, "Define employment" as any good NoSSN patriot knows, employment is defined as work performed for which youreceive a W2. They didn't like my questions or my answers. During my research I received several letters for different bills from this one collection agency. At one point I spoke to a supervisor and he told me his name was Frank Silva. I let him know that Iwas talking with the hospital and the insurance company on this one particular bill. I also let him know thatI had just received a certified letter from the hospital that day. He did not believe me. I was a bit offended being accused of lying. I offered to scan the letter in and e-mail them to him (I have no fax machine). He gave me his e-mail address. I sent it to him and he replied that he got it. I noticed the name on it "Fran Fournier." Naturally, this is Frank Silva. I called this belligerent lackey back and demanded an apology. He did say he was sorry but with a snotty tone. Then he told me that I didn't have to call him back. I was agreeable to that. Yesterday, my phone rang. The caller ID said unknown name but the phone number was there. I answered and it hung up. I called back. It was the collection agnecy. I said that I wanted to know why they were calling. I spoke to a Jim Stone. He was at the very least polite. They were calling about the outstanding bills.I asked him if they had received any of the letters I had sent them. Every letter I got from them was responded to. there must have been 20 or so. ( I didn't send them certified. I should have). He told me he hadn't seen any. Frank Silva mentioned, some time ago, that they had received something but he didn't see them either. Now I'm frustrated. I had sent all these letters and they keep calling. I have no proof they recieved them (my own fault). I decided I had had enough. I offered to reprint all of them and hand deliver them. Jim Stone said that would be fine. The collection agnecy is only about 15 minutes away so it's not that big of a deal. I also decided not to make the same mistake twice. I printed up a delivery acknowledgment. I could get this signed and have proof that they did indeed get the letters. I also decided that I would not make a scene I would play the part of the anonymous delivery boy. Most likely I would walk in the lobby, tell the receptionist I had a package for Jim Stone and please sign here. Then I would be on my way. I was seriously mistaken. I walked in, told the receptionist that I had an envelope of documents for Jim Stone. She asked if it was personal or business. I told her it was business. I politely asked for a signature and she said she couldn't sign anything. She said she would call a supervisor. A few seconds later a smug looking "gentleman" slithereded into the lobby and asked if he could help me. I told him I had a package of documents for Jim Stone and could you please sign this delivery acknowledgment. He snapped back at me, "I'm not signing anything." I asked for his name and he replied, "Frank Silva." I told him my name (honestly) and held out my hand to shake his hand. He snapped again, "I'm not shaking hands with you." I asked him to sign once again and he cut me off. I tried to explain to him that if I don't get a signature I have no proof this was delivered. He started yellling, "Then mail it and have the post office get a signature." I was going to attempt to show him that it was a simple achknowledgment when he threatened to call the police. I could tell this dirtbag was going to get out of hand. However much I would have loved to see him blow a gasket I decided to leave. I left the documents and printed up another set and mailed it certified mail the next day. Maybe he didn't know which name to sign... On looking back I would have loved to see what he said to the police when they arrived. If I had a cell phone it would have been fun to call the police for him and then hand him the phone. Bottom line is: Everyone knows that Ron Paul was the most searched candidate during the primaries and yet when we went to the "Elections" section in Google or Digg we were lucky to see one story show up on the front page. This either means that the corporate jerks at the two companies had an agenda or were paid to place one of the corporate candidate above Ron Paul. Because if popularity drove what was on the front page, Ron Paul would have been seen by millions more. PyraBang is 100% Patriot built. We intend to open the doors to the public in August, but until then we need to do two things. 1. Beta Test - When opened to the non-freedom movement population we need it to work flawlessly. 2.
