Treated With Courtesy and Respect

Hello!

As a victim of identity theft, I am a frequent visitor to the No SSN site. I needed to open a simple, non interest bearing checking account. I chose a new bank, close to home and work/school. The New Account's rep, of course, challenged me (respectfully) on my decline to provide my soc. number. I asked to speak with a manager and was referred to the bank's VP. I explained my need for privacy, as well as the laws protecting it, and that I would be glad to provide the documents stating those laws if he needed them. He had never heard of such a thing, yet was exceptionally courteous and open-minded to my request. He asked me to complete my application; he would speak with their (the bank's) attorney and get back to me as soon as possible. He also requested that I send him the information I had.

I completed my application, made a deposit, and left the bank with my new account info. My plan was to email the bank_not.pdf & con_not.pdf as soon I as got home.

Much to my surprise, by the time I arrived home, there were two messages on my voicemail: one from the rep. who opened my account, letting me know everything with my account was fine, and to please give her a call to let her know what kind of checks I would like to order. The second call was from the VP, letting me know he had spoken with the attorney; that, indeed, I was correct and that he would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused me.

I thank the creators of and contributors to, this website. Without your efforts to post these laws and documents, I would never have known I could take these steps to protect my privacy.

Again, thank you!!
