SSN not required in Public Schools and Universities

In Texas, there is an actual statute prohibiting Independent School systems from requiring a SSN. If you don't give one, they will give you another ID #. Before this statute was passed, I actually got UT to admit me without it, although they complained bitterly!

I have been withholding my SSN for years. It has gotten much easier, as the those who ask for it are usually satisfied with the ID theft excuse.
