In our flurry of coming up with children's songs, we came up with this gem. The inspiration came from ny son. Unlike most kids, he loves broccoli. I thought we should write a song titled "I Love My Broccoli". Rather than go with the obvious, John decided to make it "In the Land of Broccoli." The music for it is very unique. Since I play guitar and bass most of our music is based upon that. Not so here. This song is completely different. I don't even know how to classify it. It has only four instruments; drums, tuba, clarinet and glockenspiel. It kind of sounds New Orleans and slightly "Hymn-like". Care to classify it? Lyrics by John Lister In the land of broccoli, the sweet land of broccoli The land of those giant broccoli trees In the land of broccoli, the sweet land of broccoli A land in winter that’s covered all in cheese In the All the farmers grow this type of vegetable In the There’s always room for it on your table At night the beautiful broccoli skies, play a silly trick upon your tiring eyes, in fact they even may hypnotize and you will fall asleep The skies you see are a deep rich green and all in fact is what it seems, I think you may even have broccoli dreams when counting sheep In the land of broccoli, the sweet land of broccoli Land of which our fathers take pride In the You an eat your broccoli steamed or fried In the Broccoli tastes real good with potatoes or rice In the Although one day without broccoli would be nice |
